After Traffic Management Plan (TMP) is completed, the traffic management provider must apply for approval to do roadwork and/or various other road-related activities, such as operating a mobile crane, cherry picker, concrete boom pump, travel tower or boom lift, including to put barricades on footpaths.
Once the TMP is submitted along the permit application, the city council will check that the TMP conforms to all required regulations and code of practice. If approved, a permit is issued. Among common permits applied are for start work permit, earthwork permit, and structures or facilities relocation permit and temporary closure permit.
A permit is required to secure the expeditious activity of traffic on the authorities road channels and to facilitate the speedy movement of traffic on road networks; where another authority is the traffic authority.
